There aren’t many projectors in the market that allow for compatibility with iPads and other Apple products; let alone ones that are small enough to fit into your pocket with ease. The SHOWWX is by far and away the leader in portable projection and its compatibility with Apple operating systems is half of what makes it so great. The new SHOWWX+ (plus) is the new leader in the technology. And with an exterior as eye-wateringly superb as the imagery displayed from its technical interior, the SHOWWX+ (plus) is worth taking a look at.

Let’s compare the old and the new:

Product: Microvision’s SHOWWX

  • Resolution: WVGA (848 x 480)
  • Brightness: 10 Lumens
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 Widescreen
  • Battery life: 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Contrast ratio: 5000:1

Product: Microvision’s SHOWWX+ (plus)

  • Resolution: WVGA (848 x 480)
  • Brightness: 15 Lumens
  • Aspect ratio: 16:9 Widescreen
  • Battery life: 1.5 to 2 hours
  • Contrast ratio: 5000:1

Can you see the difference? It might take you a while but it is there. The new SHOWWX+ is “50% brighter” than its original SHOWWX. Given that the old projector was already incredibly bright even in low levels of light, a 50% increase is a pretty big one! Although 50% may be misleading as Weber-Fechner law will tell you, the relationship between perception and stimulus is a logarithmic one.

But I digress – with a difference in price of just $50, the additional brightness and much sleeker and sexier look is pretty much a no-brainer. If you’re going to spend $400 on a portable projector, why not spend 50 bucks extra for a more attractive and better quality (albeit slightly) device?
